Sakya Ngondro Refuge Prayer, Sangha

In the fourth and final line of the Sakya ngondro refuge prayer we take refuge in the Noble Sangha:

འཕགས་པའི་དགེ་འདུན་རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ

Phag pa’i ge dun nam la kyab su chi’o

འཕགས་པའི : phag pa’i : Arya, noble

དགེ་འདུན : ge dun : Sangha

རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ : I (We) take refuge in all

I (We) take refuge in all the Arya Sangha

Sakya Ngondro Refuge Prayer, Dharma

In the third line of the Sakya ngondro refuge prayer, taking refuge in the Dharma, there is really only one new word:ཆོས , Dharma, chö.

དམ་པའི་ཆོས་རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ

Dam pa’i chö nam la kyab su chi’o

དམ་པའི : Holy (but the འི may indicate a plural)

ཆོས : Dharma

རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ : I (We) take refuge to all

I (We) take refuge in all the holy Dharmas.

Sakya Ngondro Refuge Prayer, Buddha

The second line from the Sakya ngondro refuge prayer: We take refuge in all the Perfect Buddhas.

རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ

Dzog pa’i Sangye Chom den de nam la kyab su chi’o

རྫོགས་པའི : dzogpai : perfect

སངས་རྒྱས : sangye : Buddha

རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས : so this is Sambuddha (Samyaksambuddha)

བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས : chom den de: Victor, Bhagawan

རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ : I (We) take refuge in all

I take refuge in all the Perfect Buddhas, the Bhagawans.

The Sakya Ngondro Refuge Prayer, Guru

Here is the opening line in the Sakya ngondro refuge prayer:

དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མ་དམ་པ་རྣམས་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ

དཔལ་ལྡན : palden : Glorious

བླ་མ : lama : Lama

དམ་པ : dampa :most excellent, most superior, holy

རྣམས : nam : all, plural maker

ལ : la : to : particle

སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ : kyab su chi’o : I go for refuge

I go for refuge to all the holy glorious Lamas

However the Sakya translation is “We go for refuge to those holy glorious Gurus”. So I have to see if སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆིའོ indicates plural (perhaps in the འོ?).
